Strategy Leader: Inclusion in Learning
£58,149 - £66,327
The job title says it all. Inclusion in learning will be at the heart of everything you do in this key post within the Standards and Achievement Programme area of our Children and Young People’s Service. You’ll focus 100% on ensuring that every child and young person in Bristol gets the chance they deserve through inclusive practice in schools and other related settings.
Your remit couldn’t be much bigger – and neither could your opportunity to make a positive impact. You can expect to be involved in everything from managing senior staff through to creating innovative strategies around children excluded from schools, young people in care, gifted and talented learners and those who don’t attend school regularly. Top of your agenda will be the provision of innovative and inspirational leadership in these specific areas:
- The strategy for behaviour improvement, including the procurement and/or commissioning of high quality provision for learners out of school, in Pupil Referral Units and through other programmes designed to meet specific needs.
- The strategy for ensuring the learning and progress of children and young people with special educational needs.
- The attainment and achievement of Black and Minority Ethnic learners and children and young people newly arrived in the city.
- The attainment and achievement of gifted and talented learners.
- Effective joint-working with specialist teams to raise the attainment of Children in Care
- Partnership working to raise attendance at school.
- In conjunction with School Improvement Partners, monitoring the quality of provision and progress of learners.
You should have a proven track record at senior professional and/or managerial level, together with a clear understanding of the operational context within which children and young people’s services function. Excellent communication and influencing skills are a must. Perhaps most importantly of all, you should have a real belief that all children deserve the best possible start in life – and a passionate commitment to ensuring they get it.
This vacancy arises following the promotion of the previous postholder, Strategy Leader, Cross Phase School Improvement, and an adjustment of roles to provide a stronger focus on inclusion within Children and Young People’s Services in Bristol.
