Inclusion in Learning Strategy Leader - Bristol CYPS
Inclusion in learning is the most effective route for young people out of poverty and disadvantage.
In Bristol we’re taking massive strides forward with our commitment to the Change for Children programme, and educational attainment is improving in both primary and secondary schools.
But while that’s welcome news, we’re also aware that there are still too many children and young people not successfully included in that improving picture.
Rates of exclusion and absence from school are much too high. With a pupil population that’s rapidly becoming more ethnically diverse, we know that some of our Black and Minority Ethnic groups are persistently low achieving. And the achievement of our Children in Care is a concern for us all.
That’s why we’re increasing our capacity to secure learning for all, refocusing the way we support and challenge schools and strengthening multi-agency working. And it’s why – if you’re passionate about giving every child the best possible start in life – now is the best possible time to join us.
Bristol
As well as being the UK's eighth largest city, Bristol is arguably also one of the best. With a rich, vibrant heritage and equally promising future we're able to offer all of the benefits that you'd associate with any other big city together with ready access to nearby countryside that few others can match.
Gateway to the South West of England, we're just a 90 minute drive from London and at the heart of an excellent transport infrastructure including a rapidly expanding international airport. It's little wonder then that a significant number of major businesses have chosen to relocate here, creating significant inward investment, strengthening the local economy and revitalising whole areas of the city.
If you're looking to relocate to the area you'll find an extensive range of property on offer. In fact, from dockside apartments to historic or modern family homes, quiet village life to the buzz of the centre, whatever your taste, Bristol can accommodate it.
Away from work the centre has its fair share of lively bars, quality restaurants and retail outlets. The redevelopment of Broadmead - at the heart of the city - is set to move Bristol into the top 5 retail destinations.
